The Pixeladies: Where Computers Meet Fabric
Our version of the trunk show. Come and see how the Pixeladies use the computer to create fabric works of art. You’ll learn what possibilities open up in fiber art when using the computer as a design tool. Even if you don’t use computers yourself, you’ll enjoy hearing their stories of computer malfunctions, studio fights, and the fine art of collaboration. (1 hour)
Visualizing Narrative Quilts and their Stories
Using examples and tales from their commissions and personal works, the Pixeladies will show you how to create a quilt that is not only vibrant and visually stunning but also rich in narrative. From blocks that work to free form, from pieced to whole cloth, they will provide you with plenty of examples to inspire you to commemorate special events and memories in cloth. (1 hour)
Furoshiki: Fun with Fabric Folding
The Japanese have perfected the art of wrapping just about everything: presents, food, even a shopping bag. Come learn how to wrap with fabric and help save the Earth with the Pixeladies! We’ll teach you some tips and tricks to make everything look just right. This hands-on demonstration will keep your guild members moving and laughing! (1 hour)
