Join Us In Canada (Via Zoom!) For 3 Women : 3 Stories

Share

Well, we can’t travel to Canada right now, but we can at least Zoom our way there! Please join us on Feb 24, 2021 at 4:00 pm PST as we give our presentation called “3 Women : 3 Stories” for the Region of York Quilters Guild. The cost is Canadian $7. Register for the event here. Who are the women we will discuss?

Katharine McCormick

Born wealthy and married to an even wealthier man, Katharine McCormick spent her life dedicated to gaining voting and reproductive rights for women. We’ve blogged about her here.

Mitsuye Endo
quilt of Japanese American woman

Mitsuye Endo became a symbol of the unjust and illegal incarceration of Americans of Japanese descent during WWII. We’ve blogged about her here.

Faith Ringgold
Crossing the Bridge with Faith

Faith Ringgold has spent her entire career claiming legitimacy among the iconic (white, male) artists of Western art, showing us a new perspective that engenders a appreciation of art. We’ve blogged about her here.

P.S.

We all know more than 3 women to talk about. And, since you really never know how much time you will have in a presentation (what if no one asks any questions?!?), we’re ready to discuss our most recent portrait.

Fannie Lou Hamer

Born poor and Black in Sunflower County, Mississippi, Fannie Lou Hamer spent her life working for equal voting rights for her fellow Black Americans. We’ve blogged about her here.
