Happy Holidays 2021 . . . The 1998 Throwback Edition!

Share

We write our Happy Holidays post this time of year, usually with photos of our time together during the season. Deb is famous for her wine tasting parties, but not this year. Kris’s husband Neil makes a mean egg nog to share, but not this year. We Pixeladies are hunkering down for what will be a long, sad winter. But, we know good days lie ahead, so until then here’s a little trip down memory lane!

1998

The year was 1998, and as you can see from the photo above, Kris’s son Miles was but a tyke of seven! But, this was a special year, because that was the Christmas Deb and her husband Dave swooped into Worcester, MA to give Kris, Neil, and Miles a little Christmas cheer. You can tell in the photo with the extra pair of argyle socks hanging from the mantel that Miles wanted to make sure Santa knew where Deb and Dave were that year.

Once a Baker, Always a Baker

Here are Deb and Miles getting the icing ready for sugar cookies. Yes, they tasted delicious. Miles always loved to cook. And Deb has always been into sprinkles!

Mahjong

Here are Kris, Dave, Deb, and Miles playing a friendly game of mahjong (there’s no money to be seen, so it must have been friendly). Neil’s photographic skills notwithstanding, the photo below shows how one plays the game with cool looking tiles.

Both Deb and Kris learned mahjong from Ann Gleason, a long-time family friend. Ann just passed away last week at the ripe old age of 95, so this memory seemed a fitting homage to our queen of mahjong. By the way, Kris learned all her best Spanish cuss words from Ann, too.🤣

We hope you and yours stay safe this holiday season, find ways to celebrate all that this time means to you, and that we will soon be able to visit you in person!

  1. Merry Christmas! No photos of Bananagrams? I don’t know how to play Mahjong but the tiles do look neat! Thanks for including a photo with Dave. I’ve never seen one with him. Here’s hoping there will be good times coming soon.
