We’re Back In The Studio Again!!

Hurray, we’re back in the studio again!! It seemed like over a year since we sat together in the studio, no wait, it has been over a year! What a great day! What was it like, you might ask? Did we sew? Read on to learn how we set our priorities.

Dine with Patroness

To mark this special day, we wanted to go to lunch with Marcia Russell, our dear friend, patroness, and advocate. We have known Marcia since we began the Pixeladies. She’s been there from the start, buying and promoting our work and classes. Before we move on, here’s a quick thank you to all the scientists who made this day a reality. From left to right, the recipients of the Pfizer, Moderna, and Johson & Johnson vaccines!

And there was no better place to meet than at Allez!, Marcia’s favorite restaurant. We ate outdoors on a beautiful warm day with just the right amount of cool breeze. If you ever have the chance to go to Diamond Springs, California, make sure you stop in. Just take a look at this sole stuffed with salmon mousse. Oh, and Kris couldn’t decide which wine to choose so they gave her a 1/2 glass of each. Let’s just say the service is as good as the food.

Back in the Studio

So what did we do in the studio? Did we sew? Well, we . . .

  • set our schedule for studio days and blog posts through June.
  • brainstormed ideas from feedback we received from our students for our upcoming class schedule. No, we still don’t have a new schedule. You’ll be the first to know!
  • decided what we were going to make (finish, really) for the SAQA benefit auction.
  • figured out how to technically change what our blog subscribers see in their email inboxes. Click here if you want to subscribe to our blog. Don’t know if you’re already subscribed? Don’t worry, the form will let you know. (We usually blog once a week.)
  • decided on our next large project, a fifth portrait of a woman. Stay tuned!

Look below, here we are taking notes and entering dates in the computer! In other words, we did not sew, but we did take out an old project and thought about ways to reinvent it. We were never satisfied with the original piece, so Deb removed all the printed panels and died them in tea (or was it walnut juice?). See the featured image above. We’ve got some ideas percolating for this piece, so we hope to have an update soon. Yes, it’s wonderful to visit with friends, give hugs all around, and be back in the studio!
